Central Heating Installation in Purley
A full heating system is worth doing properly once. We calculate the heat requirement room by room, size the radiators to match, and balance the system at the end so the far bedroom gets warm at the same time as the hallway.

Signs the system needs replacing, not patching
Replacing a whole system is a big spend and it is not always the right call. These are the things that tip it.
- Microbore pipework that keeps silting up. Once small-bore pipe has blocked twice, flushing it again is renting time rather than fixing it.
- Radiators that were never the right size. If a room has never got warm, no amount of balancing will fix a radiator that is too small for the heat loss.
- A conventional system with tanks in the loft you no longer need. Removing the tanks frees the loft and takes a freeze risk out of the house.
- Weeping joints appearing in several places at once. Old compression joints tend to fail as a batch, not one at a time.
- An extension the old system was never designed for. Adding two radiators to a system already at capacity makes the whole house worse, not the extension better.
- No thermostatic valves and no zoning. You are heating empty rooms to heat the one you sit in.
What it costs
We give you a fixed price in writing once we have seen the job. These are the things that change the number, so you know what we will be looking at.
- The number of radiators, which comes out of the heat loss calculation rather than out of the air.
- Whether you want a combi or a cylinder system. A cylinder needs space, an airing cupboard and more pipework.
- How the floors come up. Chipboard over joists is straightforward, a solid floor or an engineered oak finish is not.
- Whether there is existing heating to replace or nothing at all. A property with no heating is more expensive because every run is a first fit.
- Every price is fixed in writing after the survey.

How long does a full central heating installation take?
Three to five working days for a typical three bedroom house. A property with no existing pipework takes longer because every run is a first fit. We give you the day count with the quote.
How much does central heating cost to install?
We price it after the survey and the heat loss calculation, because the radiator count is what drives most of the cost and guessing it from the floor area is how quotes go wrong. The floor construction and whether you want a combi or a cylinder system move it as well. Ring us and we will give you a realistic range before anyone comes out.
Will you need to lift my floors?
Usually some of them. We agree the routes with you at the survey and we lift boards carefully rather than cutting through joists. Where a floor cannot be lifted we will tell you what the alternative looks like before you commit.
How do you decide what size radiators I need?
A heat loss calculation for each room, using the room dimensions, the window area, the wall construction and the level of insulation. Sizing radiators by eye is how you end up with a cold back bedroom.
Can I keep my existing radiators?
Sometimes. If they are sound and correctly sized we will reuse them and say so on the quote, which brings the price down. If they are undersized or corroded, replacing them is the honest answer.
Do you install underfloor heating as well?
Yes, usually in extensions and ground floor renovations where the floor is coming up anyway. Ask us at the survey and we will price both options.
