When replacing beats repairing
Not every broken boiler needs replacing. These are the situations where putting money into the old one stops making sense.
- The repair is over half the cost of a new boiler. At that point you are spending most of the price of a warranty-backed install on a boiler that will fail again.
- Parts are obsolete. Once the manufacturer stops making the board or the heat exchanger, the next fault is terminal whatever we do.
- It has broken down twice or more in a year. Two callouts and a service is most of a deposit on a new one.
- It is over fifteen years old. Efficiency drops off, and older units cost more to run for the same heat.
- It cannot keep up with the house any more. An extension or a second bathroom often means the boiler is now undersized, which no repair will fix.
- You are getting no hot water while the heating runs. On an older combi that usually points at a diverter valve, and on an old boiler that is often the last expensive part before the next one.
What it costs
We give you a fixed price in writing once we have seen the job. These are the things that change the number, so you know what we will be looking at.
- A straight swap, combi for combi in the same spot, is the cheapest version of this job.
- Moving the boiler to another room means new gas, flue and condensate runs, which costs more.
- Converting a conventional system with tanks and a cylinder over to a combi is a bigger job again.
- The size of the gas supply. An older 15mm run sometimes has to be upgraded before a bigger boiler can go on it.
- Whether the system needs a power flush first, which we tell you at the survey rather than discovering it on installation day.
- Anything that changes the price is on the written quote before you agree to anything. We do not add costs mid job.

We come out, look at the existing system, check the gas supply and the flue route, and ask how the house actually gets used. Takes about 45 minutes.
Fixed written quote
You get the price in writing, usually within 24 hours, with the boiler model and warranty length on it. No pressure and no time-limited discount nonsense.
Installation
Most swaps take one day. A system conversion or a boiler move takes two. We tell you which yours is before you book.
Handover
We run through the controls with you, leave the system balanced, register the warranty and email your certificate.

How much does a new boiler cost in Purley?

A straight combi-for-combi swap in the same position is the cheapest version of the job. Moving the boiler, converting from a conventional system with tanks and a cylinder, or upgrading an undersized gas run all push it up.
How long does a boiler installation take?
A straightforward swap takes one day. If we are moving the boiler to a different room, or converting a conventional system to a combi, budget two days. You will know which one applies to you before you book, not on the morning we turn up.
Will I be without heating or hot water?
Only for the working day itself. We drain the system in the morning and you will normally have hot water back on the same evening. On a two day job we leave you with temporary heating if the weather calls for it.
What boiler brands do you install?
We work with the main domestic gas brands and we will recommend what suits the property and the budget rather than pushing one make. If you have a preference, tell us at the survey and we will price it. Whatever goes in, we register the manufacturer warranty for you before we leave.
Do I have to be at home for the installation?
Someone needs to let us in, and to be around at handover so we can run through the controls with you. Beyond that you are not stuck sitting with us all day. We put covers down, keep the working area to what we need, and clear up before we go.
Do I need a power flush with a new boiler?
Not always. A newer system in good condition needs a chemical flush and a filter, which is included. An older system with sludge and cold spots on the radiators needs a full power flush, and we will tell you at the survey rather than discovering it on installation day.
Is the installation notified to building control?
Yes. Every gas boiler installation is notified through Gas Safe, and your building regulations certificate is emailed to you afterwards. You need it when you sell the house.
